Must Have Monday: Treggings
I posted awhile ago about how crazy women wear leggings as pants made me. And then I heard from a friend (she saw them while visiting the UK) that they started to make these things called treggings (trousers + leggings.) I instantly thought “nope.” No way, these still don’t count as pants.
BUT, then it happened, I saw them in person and got a pair myself at H&M well 2. (They seem very hard to find except in the UK and UK online shops, so I was surprised and delighted) In my book, they count as pants and can be warn with a top that doesn’t cover the bootay. And, they come in all sorts of colors and styles.

I pride myself in offering my readers many options for online shopping, but this trend seems to be a bit hard to find. Anyone got a good source? I got an orange and a royal blue pair from H&M so the funky colors are out there. Share your secrets if you have any, please.
Also, I won’t avoid the elephant in the room. Many still qualify these treggings as leggings (not me). So let’s put a vote out there to see where we stand on this: fashion oo la la or faux pas.

FYI, that stitch isn’t supposed to stay
Everyday, walking up the stairs from the El, I notice at least one women (or man) in a super cute coat BUT the stitching is left over the vent keeping it shut. The tack stitching is put in by the factory at the vent (and sometimes the pockets) to hold shape in storage and shipping before wear. Not to make a coat fit awkwardly.
If you are one of these ladies, chic enough to get a killer coat, but unaware that the stitch is short-term, its okay, there are many more of you. But I want to put it on your radar: snip those slits and the fit will be a hit. (ps: I’m a poet and didn’t even know it.)
Easy how to: Tack stitching is long and easy to slide a pair of scissors under. Simply snip and pull threads out of the fabric by hand. Do not leave dangling from the fabric.
Set yourself free and allow yourself a longer stride.

Must Have Monday: Vintage Bags to Carry your Port/Resume
I went out to dinner with a friend this weekend who had the cutest vintage coach handbag that could perfectly fit an 8.5 x 11 without screaming “I’m on my way to an interview!!!” and went great with her hipster bar/dinner look.
I am all about having multi-functional pieces and must admit, this is one of the staples I am missing, a day bag that doubles as a briefcase. I hate the looks of an actual brief case as much as carrying an almost big enough bag with papers sticking out the top.
So this MUST HAVE MONDAY is for all you chic chica’s on the job prowl. And taking the tip from my friend, to keep it professional, it’s got to well made. Best way to accomplish that and keep your budget in check is to go vintage. Make sure to snatch these up, they don’t make them like this any more. Carry your Port/Resume in a non-conventional way for $50 and Below:

Funky Friday: Maxi Skirt
I am often fearful of spending my threads budget on trends, but when the piece is this versatile, you gotta go for it. FUNKY FRIDAY, trend on, MAXI SKIRT!
“Maxi”mize the use
Step 1. Get a killer maxi skirt.
Step 2. Winterize: Pair it with a jacket, and keep your legs warm with tights and boots.
Step 3. Springize: Pair it with sandals and a long sleeve blouse or a tank for the warmer days.
Step 4. Keep it cool: Sandals and a tank should work on most summer days, especially with a lightweight maxi. But if you want to style your skirt in a new way…
Pull it up: Make it a strapless dress by pulling it over your bust and cinching the waist with you favorite belt. OR if your skirt doesn’t have an elastic waist, you could always shorten that hem turning the MAXI into a MINI.
If you want a shorter term commitment, put away the scissors and grab a few safety pins. Take the hem on the bottom front of the skirt and pin it to the waist band on the inside of the skirt, add a few to either side to secure the weight. Keep the rest of the sides down for the “oh so now” asymmetrical hem, long in the back short in the front. This technique works best with lightweight fabric. The heavier skirts will have to be saved for a cooler day.
